Quick and 100% Accurate Cancer Detection Through Salivary Test

No needle prick, no blood test, just a drop of saliva and wait for 10 minutes and the cancer tumor diagnosis is done. Well this is not a plot of any science fiction movie, Dr. David Wong, a professor of oncology at University of California, Los Angeles has devised a salivary diagnostic technology for cancer detection in 10 minutes which would be 100% accurate and could be taken anywhere without further need of any blood test.

According to Dr. David Wong, tumor DNA circulating in the body fluids could be detected by the liquid saliva biopsy, a single drop of saliva contains all the information required for cancer tumor detection as early as it develops.

The test has came up with many path breaking advantages. The test is non-invasive and promised to be light on pockets costing around £15 only. The current blood tests that doctors employ for the diagnosis of cancer like tumor marker tests, blood protein testingcomplete blood count (CBC) can often be misleading and requires further tests and biopsy to ascertain the presence of cancerous tumor in the body. Dr. Wong’s test identifies the genetic mutations in the blood plasma which are representative of the tumor.  It provides a lot of information about the tumor which could be helpful in selecting the best possible treatment procedure for a particular tumor.

The test is very simple to be carried out by anyone (dentist, pharmacist or even you) and anywhere (even at home).

The test will enter in full clinical trials in the lung cancer patients by the end of 2016 and if everything goes well it will secure the U.S. FDA approval within two years.

Early diagnosis of any disease is the key to its eradication. In case of cancer, faster the detection of its inception the more is the chance of getting cured. According to National Cancer Institute, in 2016 approximately 1,685,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in United states and 595,690 people will die from the disease. In this situation if this revolutionary technology works cancer tumor can be detected and destroyed at its earliest stage removing the life threatening risk of cancer.

Dr. Wong during his speech in American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting in Washington looked hopeful of availing the technology in Britain by the end of the decade and indicated at the possibilities of testing multiple cancers at the same time.

P.S. This report appeared in global media during mid-February, 2016 which was well before the launch of our platform. We recently came across this innovation and thought to share with you. I hope you will acknowledge the true innovation.
