Location: Stanford, California (USA)

Deadline: 13/07/2016

Description: The Grillet lab is currently recruiting a Postdoctoral scholar in Molecular Biology/Genetics and Bioinformatics at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Our laboratory aims to understand the genetic basis of hearing loss and the physiology/pathologies of the inner ear. To achieve these goals we are using multiple approaches including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, electronic microscopy, biophysics, genetics, bioinformatics and electrophysiology. More info about the lab can be found at //grilletlab.stanford.edu. The Otolaryngology Department provides a highly dynamic and collaborative environment fostering scientific discovery.

The candidate will perform single-cell mRNA expression analysis to discover genes involved in the physiology and pathology of Hearing. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has the ability to work independently and cooperatively with the other members of the lab. The ideal candidate has obtained his/her Ph.D. or equivalent degree recently or is in the final phases of completing such degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Statistics, or Computer Science. The candidate must have a strong publication record and a mastery of biostatistical tools for genetic analysis, next-generation sequencing analysis, large-scale data mining, and machine learning algorithms. The candidate must be an expert programmer in R, Python, or a widely used language for statistical computing. Experience with complex genetics and cellular/molecular biology is also highly desired. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.

How to apply: To apply, please send a CV and a cover letter describing your previous work and career goals, putative starting date and the contact information for three references to Dr. Nicolas Grillet at ngrillet@stanford.edu
