Description: The California Institute for Biomedical Research (Calibr) is seeking talented Postdoctoral Fellow candidates to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on early stage translational research. This position is particularly focused on small molecule drug discovery for neglected diseases. On successful completion of the program, the fellows fluent in both Mandarin and English will have the opportunity to transition to a permanent position at the Global Health Drug Discovery Institute, which is to be established in Beijing China by Tsinghua University and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The candidate will work on preclinical drug discovery programs for neglected diseases. The candidate will develop biochemical and cellular assays, perform high throughput screens to identify lead compounds, validate the compound activities in cellular and animal models, and study the underlying molecular mechanisms. Additionally, they will work with medicinal chemists to optimize the lead compounds to afford for drug candidates for both preclinical and clinical studies.
- Ph.D. in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical biology, chemistry, or related fields
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently
- Collaborative attitude with good communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues in an interdisciplinary environment
