Funded positions are available in the Shen laboratory to investigate the molecular mechanisms of cellular differentiation in prostate development and tumorigenesis. We are seeking highly-motivated applicants with a commitment to excellence for studies in the following areas:
1) Prostate organogenesis and regeneration in mouse models, focusing on epithelial stem/progenitor cells and lineage specification (Wang et al. (2009) Nature 461: 495-500; Wang et al. (2013) Nat. Cell Biol. 15: 274-283).
2) Functional analyses of cell types of origin and tumor-initiating events for prostate cancer (Wang et al. (2014) Cell Rep. 8: 1339-1346; Lee and Shen (2015) Curr. Opin. Cell Biol. 37: 35-41).
3) Development of organoid model systems for analyses of treatment response in prostate cancer (Chua et al. (2014) Nat. Cell Biol. 16: 951-961).
Requirements (mandatory + desirable): Ph.D. degree with a strong background in stem cell biology, developmental biology, and/or cancer research. Expertise with mouse models, organoid culture, imaging, bioinformatics, and/or genomic analyses would be advantageous.
